ENGLISH Premier League giants Everton are considering making a move for Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze with a view to signing him before the start of the forthcoming 2024/25 season.
Chukwueze, 25, who currently plays for AC Milan in Italy, joined the seven-time Uefa Champions League winners from Villareal last summer in a deal that could end up costing around €50m. However, he did not have the best start to life in the San Siro, as he was largely, he was second choice to Croatian winger Christian Pulisic, scoring just once in over 20 league games.
In a pre-season tour of the US, Chukwueze appeared rejuvenated, as he put in spectacular displays, even urging the Milan fans to watch out for a better season from him. According to Spanish sporting media outlet, Fichajes, however, Chukwueze could be close to a Premier League move for a fee ranging from around €45m to around €50m, which Milan would be willing to accept.
In their quest to bolster their squad and improve their position in the Premier League, Sean Dyche’s Everton view Chukwueze as an ideal addition. They believe his ability to play on both flanks and in the centre of the attack provides them with the versatility they need to compete at the highest level.
Of all the clubs in the English top flight, Everton scored the least goals last season and their need for some creativity in attack is essential. Considering the significant increase in Chukwueze’s market value since joining the club, a sale would mean all positives for the Italian club as they would also make a profit, which will enable them to bring in more options in attack.
