Newly-promoted la Liga club Huesca aim to sign Uzoho ahead of forthcoming Spanish season

SUPER Eagles goalkeeper Francis Uzoho looks set to join newly-promoted La Liga side Huesca after his talks with his current club Deportivo La Coruna have failed to result in a new deal attracting attention from elsewhere.

Uzoho, 19, has established himself as Nigeria's undisputed number one goalkeeper and is poised to man goal for the country at the forthcoming World Cup in Russia. His contract with Deportivo La Coruna where he is presently third choice is due to expire on the July 30 and although the club have opened talks over an extension, both parties are yet to agree on a deal.

A former Nigeria U17 goalkeeper, Uzoho joined the recently relegated La Liga side Deportivo on a one-year deal from Qatar based Aspire Academy. He quickly established himself as a member of the first team and manned goals for three games before he was demoted to the B team following the axing of coach Pepe Mel.

Huesca who were newly promoted to the top division in Spain have targeted the 19 year old as their current first choice goalkeeper Alejandro Remiro, is set to return to his parent club Athletico Bilbao in the summer following the expiration of his loan deal. Huesca will be hoping to seal the deal before the World Cup starts as a great tournament would push up Uzoho's value and maybe spark off a bidding war.
