Rohr to make several changes ahead of tomorrow's game against Uganda in Asaba

SUPER Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr is planning to make several changes to the team when it faces Uganda in a friendly match tomorrow from the squad that faced South Africa on Saturday due to a combination of injuries or the need to try out new faces.

On Saturday, the Eagles secured qualification for the 2019 African Cup of Nations after playing a 1-1 draw with South Africa in Soweto and tomorrow, the team will play Uganda in Asaba in a friendly match. Already head coach Rohr is going to have to change two of his centrebacks as Leon Balogun is injured and Kenneth Omeruo has been given leave to go and be with his pregnant wife expected to deliver soon.

Rotherham's Semi Ajayi is expected to be drafted in as a centreback at the heart of the defence alongside William Ekong. At rightback, Torino's Ola Aina who was rested on Saturday after picking up a knock in training, is expected to be fit enough to start.

In goal, Daniel Akpeyi was very close to playing against South Africa on Sunday but Mr Rohr had a late change of mind, leading to Ikechukwu Ezenwa getting the nod. However, Akpeyi will no doubt get the chance to prove his worth to the technical crew tomorrow in Asaba.

In midfield, Mikel Agu, who has been in fine form for Vitoria Setubal, where he is on a season long loan from Porto, is also expected to step for either John Ogu or Oghene Etebo. Upfront, Watford's Isaac Success is expected to get the nod ahead of Leicester City's Kelechi Iheanacho who had a terrible game against South Africa.

Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen are also expected to start, so captain Ahmed Musa and Alex Iwobi might be rested. Apparently, the lure to start Osimhen and  Chukwueze together as a pair is very strong after their near perfect understanding in training ahead of the South Africa game.
