Three policemen arrested for stealing property from Goodluck's Abuja home they were guarding

THREE policemen have been arrested amid suspicion that they robbed the Abuja residence of former president Dr Goodluck Jonathan and carted away valuables which were later found put up for sale in the market.

According to police authorities, the trio were employed to guard the former president's private home in Gwarimpa Estate in Abuja. Following their arrest, the policemen admitted to selling some of the  items which they allegedly stole from the house.

Police sources say that the policemen would soon face an orderly room trial after which they will be dismissed from service for theft. Identified items allegedly stolen by the policemen include expensive furniture, television sets, refrigerators, split air conditioners,  bowler hats,  designer suits and some Ijaw attire.

“The investigation into the theft is almost concluded and it is certain that the policemen involved in the case would be eased out of the service for gross misconduct. How can they steal what they were meant to protect?” the police source added.

Federal Capital Police Command spokesman, Anjuguri Manzah, added: “The policemen who are supposed to be on guard duty at the house have been detained for questioning. Investigations to find out what actually happened is currently in progress."
