Nnamdi Kanu urges Ipob members to vote out all the southeast governors but return those from the south-south

INDIGENOUS People of Biafra (Ipob) leader Nnamdi Kanu has urged his followers to return all of the governors in the south-south in today's gubernatorial elections but to vote against the candidate of Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and all the southeastern governors.

Today, Nigerians go to polls to elect 30 state governors and state houses of assembly members in all 36 states and in the Federal Capital Territory. In the run-up to the elections, Mr Kanu had asked Ipob members to boycott the polls but he later relented and asked them to vote against the ruling All progressives Congress (APC) and President Muhammadu Buhari.

In today's elections, Mr Kanu appears to have adopted the same stance as all the governors across the south-south geo-political zone seeking re-election are members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). These include the governors of Delta, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states.

In a live broadcast yesterday, Mr Kanu lamented the military presence in Rivers state describing the APC leader in the state, transport minister Rotimi Amaechi, as an enemy of Biafra. He added that soldiers are heavily present in Rivers State for the election in order to orchestrate the removal of Governor Nyesom Wike.

Mr Kanu also called on Biafrans and Igbos to go out and vote against the APC in Imo State and Uche Nwosu, Governor Okorocha's son-in-law and anointed successor. In Anambra, Bayelsa and Edo, there are no governorship elections today, so Mr Kanu urged his supporters to return all the PDP governors seeking re-election.

“The unfolding war of election being waged by Fulani Janjaweed Nigerian military against the people of southern Biafra all is a bid to recover Governor Wike and other patriotic governors across Biafraland. The Nigerian Army has killed dozens of Biafran people and taken over Okirika, Brass, Ogbia, Yenegoa, Sagbama and Southern Ijaw.

“The Nigerian Army has never fought any war and won it, so ask yourself, if the same enemies are attacking us, why don’t we come together? If not for Governor Nyesom Wike, Rivers would have been long gone.

“The enemies have come in and taken over everywhere, badly mannered soldiers are over Biafra land raping, sacking towns with impunity. We must go against the likes of Amaechi and Okorocha who is bringing his son-in-law to come and finish his work," Mr Kanu added.

Describing Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State as completely mad, Mr Kanu also accused Ifeanyi Ubah of going to Lagos to campaign for those that said they would kill Igbos. He said Igbos must do something by ensuring that all those criminals across Biafraland are not allowed to come to power.

Mr Kanu added: “In Imo State, no sensible human should vote for APC and Okorocha's son-in-law, Uche Nwosu. Once you vote them, you are finished because you will be the one crying every day, so now is the time to do something and ensure enemies don’t come back.

“We must ensure that Wike remains in power in Rivers, Udom Emmanuel must remain in power in Akwa Ibom and we must support them and other south-south governors. Ensure the breed of wicked people like Ikpeazu must be removed, so all the governors of the southeast must be swept away from office."
