Buhari sets up inauguration committee headed by Boss Mustapha to oversee May 29 swearing-in

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has set up an inauguration committee chaired by the secretary to the federal government Boss Mustapha to oversee the swearing-in ceremony of his second term administration when it takes office on May 29.

 

Last month, President Buhari won a second term in office after being declared the winner of the 2019 presidential elections in which he and former vice president Alhaji Atiku Abubakar fought a close race. To ensure that the inauguration goes ahead smoothly, a committee made up of ministers, civil servants and politicians, has been formed to oversee the transition.

 

According to a statement signed by the permanent secretary of the General Services Office, Olusegun Adekunle, titled Constitution of the Inter-ministerial Presidential Inauguration Committee, members the committee will be inaugurated tomorrow on Thursday, March 14. Members include the ministers information, foreign affairs and Federal Capital and the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), among others.

 

Its terms of reference include planning and execution of all approved activities for the inauguration and the co-opting of any organisations and persons relevant towards the successful execution of the programme. In addition the committee has also been charged with documenting for posterity, all planned activities for the inauguration and carrying out any other assignment as may be required towards the successful implementation of the programme.
