Police arrest three domestic staff working at Rocha Okorocha's home over recent armed attack

MEN of the Imo State Police Command have arrested three people in connection with the recent attack on former Governor Rochas Okorocha's country home in Ogboko during which armed men stormed the compound.

On Friday last week, armed hoodlums invaded the private residence at Ogboko in Ideato South Local Government Area and ransacked the premises. Upon arriving there, they overpowered the security guards and proceeded straight to Governor Okorocha's bedroom but fortunately for him, he was not around at the time.

There are fears that this was an assassination attempt on the former governor as the hoodlums did not take anything. Reacting to the attack, the police have now arrested three men in connection with the attack, all of whom are said to be domestic staff of the former governor.

Imo State police commissioner Rabiu Ladodo, said that preliminary investigations showed that the invasion of the former governor’s Ogboko home was an act of internal sabotage. Mr Ladodo said: “We have arrested three domestic staff of the immediate past governor.

"Preliminary investigations carried out by us showed that the invasion was carried out by those who are working there. I want to assure Imo people that we are on top of the situation and we are doing everything possible to ensure that nothing is left undone in making sure that justice prevails."

Governor Okorocha, who left office on Wednesday May 29 after serving for eight years as governor, has been the subject of a lot of controversy over the last week. Already, some of the structures he erected like the Akachi Tower in Owerri have been pulled down by his successor Governor Emeka Ihedioha.
