Ihedioha warns Okorocha that he will use security agencies to probe his eight years in office

GOVERNOR Emeka Ihedioha has issued a stern warning to his immediate past predecessor Rochas Okorocha saying that those who looted the state treasury must and will be made to account for their actions.

On May 29, Governor Ihedioha took over from Governor Okorocha but there was no formal handover, with no documents exchanging hands and State House left in a terrible condition, with files scattered all over the floor. Over the last week, there has been a lot of bad blood between the two men as an edifice known as Akachi Towers built by Governor Okorocha was pulled down within 48 hours of him leaving office.

Although Governor Ihedioha has denied ordering the demolition of the structure, it believed that his administration may demolish the numerous statues erected across the state. Yesterday, Governor Ihedioha upped the temperature further, saying the he would employ the services of security agencies to make sure that the state’s financial dealings over the last eight years were accounted for.

Speaking while declaring open the ongoing retreat organised for the state lawmakers-elect in Oguta Local Government Area of the state, Governor Ihedioha said those who looted the state must be criminalised. He claimed that his predecessor has yet to hand over to him but assured all stakeholders that his administration would take responsibility for its actions.

Governor Ihedioha said: “I will have to involve the services of security agencies in making sure that those who served the state must account for it. We will criminalise those who looted our treasury.

"They said I should begin, when nothing was handed over to me. We must make them to account.”

He told the lawmakers that they were coming at time when the state was at a crossroads but urged them to join hands with him to deliver on his electoral promises. According to the governor, although the challenges of reconstructing the badly battered state were huge, they were not insurmountable.
