Super Eagles land in Egyptian city of Ismaili as their gun for fourth African Nations Cup trophy

NIGERIA'S Super Eagles have landed in the Egyptian city of Ismailia in readiness for the 32nd African Cup of Nations due to kick off on Friday June 21 where they are one of the favourites to win the tournament.

After playing their last warm up game against Zimbabwe in Asaba on Saturday, the Eagles flew out to the city of Ismaili on the Sinai Peninsula. They will play their last pre-tournament friendly against Senegal on 16 June in Ismaili and after that it will be down to serious business as Nigeria's opening match will be against Burundi on 22 June at the Alexandria Stadium.

On June 26, the Eagles will face Guinea in Alexandria before rounding off their group matches on June 30 against Madagascar. In this first ever expanded tournament involving 24 teams, Nigeria is seen as one of the favourites alongside hosts Egypt and the likes of Morocco, Senegal and Ivory Coast.

After the draw with Zimbabwe in Asaba, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) allowed the Warriors to fly with the Eagles to Egypt. Upon arriving in Egypt, the Eagles have been camped at the Hotel Mercure in Ismailia where they will spend one week before heading to Alexandria, venue of their Group B matches during the tournament.

Nigeria has won the Nations Cup three times in the past, lifting the trophy in 1980, 1994 and 2013 and always enters the tournament as one of the favourites. However, the Eagles have missed out on the last two tournaments.
