Leicester City sign Nigerian teenage goalkeeper Chituru Odunze after successful two week trials

NIGERIAN teenage goalkeeper Chituru Odunze has been signed up by English Premier league side Leicester City after successfully completing a two week trial with the club ahead of the forthcoming season.

Odunze, 16, spent last season playing for Major League Soccer side, Vancouver Whitecaps and will now return to England where he started his career. Before joining Vancouver Whitecaps in January 2017, Odunze played for the youth teams of Chelsea, Cardiff City and West Ham in England.

Announcing his move to Leicester City, Odunze told the club’s official website that it is a dream come true to take the next step in my career at a big club like the Foxes. Odunze is eligible to represent the national teams of Nigeria, the US, England and Canada and no doubt the Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr will be monitoring his progress.

Odunze said: "I’m really grateful for everything that Vancouver Whitecaps FC have done for me and I would like to thank the coaches, staff and my teammates for how they have helped me grow as a player. Especially Raegyn Hall and Jordan Santiago for coaching me as a goalkeeper.”
