Gunmen kill Adamawa Macban leader engaged in the fight against banditry and kidnapping

FULANI herdsmen's body the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (Macban) has lost its northeast zonal vice chairman Saidu Kolaku who was killed by armed bandits in Adamawa State over the weekend.

 

Mr Kolaku was shot dead on Saturday after unknown gunmen stormed his residence in Sabon Pegi in Mayo Belwa Local Government of Adamawa State. Sulaiman Nguroje, a spokesman for the Adamawa State Police Command, said:  “Unknown gunmen stormed the resident of the Fulani leader located at Sabon Pegi in Mayo Belwa Local Government Area, shot him and left him in the pool of his blood. ”

"Indeed, police received the death of the slain man with shock because of his invaluable contribution towards fighting crime and criminality especially his gallantry in the fight against kidnappers. The command has launched manhunt for the fleeing culprits and God’s willing, they will be tracked down and brought to justice.”

 

Muhammad Buba, the Adamawa State Macban spokesman described the killing of Mr Kolaku as a possible reprisal attack to avenge the role he played in tackling criminality especially kidnapping and cattle rustling. He added that the deceased’s fight against criminal practices in the state earned him an honorary award from the Nigeria police.

 

"Efforts of Mr Kolaku in fighting crime made the police command to honour him on the 17th July 2019, for his gallantry and valiant exploits in fighting kidnappers and cattle rustlers rampaging the state. It’s unfortunate that the death of our zonal leader will seriously undermine the fight against crime and criminality in the state,” Mr Buba added.
