Aisha arrives back in Abuja saying she stayed in the UK for medical reasons like her husband

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari's wife Aisha has debunked stories that she has spent the last few months in the UK because she is unhappy with her husband's plans to marry a second wife saying she stayed away to spend time with her children.

Over the last week, rumour has been rife that President Buhari intends to marry Sadiya Farouq, the minister for humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development. many commentators say that incensed with the development, first lady Hadjiya Aisha Buhari has spent the last four months in London as a way of expressing her disapproval.

However, yesterday, Hadjiya Buhari arrived back in Abuja, saying that she was abroad for so long to seek medical attention and to see her children. Arriving at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, she cautioned Nigerians on the dangers of spreading fake news, saying that it does no good to anyone.

Hadjiya Buhari said: "I never abandon my children and last year, I went to Spain and spent two months with Zahra when she gave birth. It has been a tradition for us, as for like 20 to 27 years now, if our children are on holiday, we used to spend holiday with them.

”During this year’s holiday in UK, I fell sick, so I stayed back to see a doctor and the doctor advised me to stay back to attend to my health. From the UK, I travelled to Saudi Arabia for hajj and returned to England on the doctor’s advice and they also advised that I should slow down my activities."

At the airport, she was received by the wife of Kogi State governor, Rashida Bello, the senior special assistant to the president on administration Hajo Sani and the wife of former Nasarawa State governor Mairo Al-Makura. She expressed gratitude to almighty God for journey back to Nigeria and expressed gratitude to her husband for approving some special assistants to her office.
