Germany's Bayer Leverkusen hope to purchase Sheyi Ojo from Liverpool this summer

GERMAN Bundesliga giants Bayer Leverkusen are hoping to complete the signing of Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo during the ongoing summer transfer window as a replacement for Demarai Gray who is on his way to Everton.

Ojo, 24, has made a handful of appearances for the Liverpool first team in his career so far but appears not to be in the long term plans of manager Jurgen Klopp. A dashing winger, he has been out on loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers, Fulham and Rangers among other clubs over the years.

Last season, Ojo, who has played for the England U16,17,18,19, 20 and 20 teams, was sent out on loan to English Championship side Cardiff City. Having returned to his parent club, he has now become the subject of a bid as Leverkusen are looking for a replacement for Gray, the former Leicester City winger who is returning to England.

Gray, 25,  is expected to undergo a medical at Everton today, prompting Leverkusen to open a line of communication with Ojo's agent. Cardiff City's former  manager Neil Harris, once described Ojo as a player who has got unbelievable ability on the club’s official website in October 2020.

Liverpool are most likely to sell Ojo if the club gets a decent transfer fee for him. Ojo, who came through the Liverpool academy, is one of the English-born players on the radar of Super Eagles manager Rohr.

In September 2018, Ojo stated he could represent Nigeria at senior international level. In January this year, it was reported that Fifa had completed his switch, thus making him eligible to play for the Super Eagles.
