Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers keen to sign Ademola Lookman permanently

LEICESTER City manager Brendan Rodgers has asked the club to open talks with German side RB Leipzig about signing Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman on a permanent basis at the end of the season after being impressed with him during his loan spell.

Lookman, 24, has spent the past season on loan at Leicester City, where he has been a key member of the squad. Satisfied with Lookman's contribution, Leicester  are keen to sign him permanently from his parent club RB Leipzig and are willing to meet the German side's asking price for the winger.

Mr Rodgers is a big fan of Lookman whose loan deal expires on June 30. Leipzig want €16.5m for the player they paid €18m to secure from Everton in 2019 despite the fact that the side has already recouped €2m of that transfer fee when Fulham got him on loan two years ago.

While Leicester City have no problem shelling out big on Lookman, there is no clear path for the deal just yet with the Foxes needing to move some players on before spending on arrivals. However, Mr Rodgers hopes to see the Super Eagles star become a key member of his squad ahead of next season.

Lookman has been one of Leicester’s most productive wingers this campaign, scoring eight goals and providing five assists in 40 appearances in all competitions. He also became a full international this season, making his senior debut for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
