Mikel Obi to return for Super Eagles in Tuesday when they face Serbia in north London

SUPER Eagles skipper Mikel Obi will be back to lead the team on Tuesday when Nigeria faces Serbia at Barnet's The Hive's Stadium in north London  after having sorted out his work permit issues in China.

On Friday, Mikel missed Nigeria's game against Poland due to the fact that he is having work permit issues that would have affected his ability to return to China after leaving. However, it appears that the matter has now been sorted and Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has confirmed that his captain will be back for the match.

However, Mr Rohr has however ruled out Bursaspor fullback Shehu Abdullahi, after he limped out of the Poland match. Abdullahi was substituted with what looked like a hamstring injury, with Tyronne Ebuehi coming on in his place.

Mr Rohr said: “We have some injured players ahead of the game against Serbia but we are hopeful the injury isn’t a serious one. Abdullahi will have a scan in England to determine if he can play but like you saw, Ebuehi can play if he is not fit.”

In addition, the coach also said he is hopeful that Las Palmas midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo, will be available for the game. Etebo missed the Poland game due to injury but is expected to land in London and be fit in time for the match.
