APC youth leader in Osun State accuses Aregbesola of working against Tinubu's ambition

INTERIOR minister Rauf Aregbesola has been accused by the youth wing of All Progressives Congress (APC)  in Osun State of working against the party's presidential candidate in next year's elections Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Former Lagos State governor Asiwaju Tinubu, emerged as the APC presidential candidate after coasting home in a landslide victory following the party's convention in Abuja. Believed to have originally come from Osun State, Asiwaju Tinubu made Mr Aregbesola the governor there between 2011 and 2019 and when he left ensured Governor Gboyega Oyetola got elected.

However, the two men have fallen out lately as Mr Aregbesola did not want Governor Oyetola returned for a second term and worked against his re-election. Claiming Asiwaju Tinubu imposed the governor on Osun State, Mr Aregbesola refused to back Governor Oyetola in the recent gubernatorial elections, contributing to him losing to Senator Ademola Adeleke of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to Goke Akinwemimo, the APC youth leader on Osun State, things look set to get worse as Mr Aregbesola is no longer with the APC. He said he is optimistic, however, that that the minister and his supporters will not succeed in their plans to bring doom to the party in the forthcoming general elections.

Mr Akinwemimo said: “We are saying these to alert the national leadership of our dear party that Aregbesola and his allies are no more with APC. Apart from the fact that their previous actions have shown that they are working for the opposition, they are equally determined to ensure that we lose other future elections, including the presidential election.

“They are out to spell doom for our party. However, we are prepared to resist them and they will not succeed.”
