General overseer arrested by Lagos State Police Command over sexual offence allegations

MEN of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested the general overseer of the Peculiar Generation Assembly Bishop Chris Omosekpa after a high court issued a bench warrant against him over suspicion of committing sexual offences.

In a development that is now becoming commonplace, a team of policemen from Elemoro Division of the Lagos State Police Command, stormed the church at Eputu London in Awoyaya, in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos. Bishop Omosekpa's arrest was sequel to a bench warrant issued against him by Justice RA Oshodi of the Lagos State Sexual and Domestic Special Offences Court in Ikeja.

Apparently, Bishop Omosekpa is alleged to have molested some of his church members, among whom were minors. He was alleged to have manipulated them through false prophecy and intimidation.

Bishop Omosekpa was initially arrested by policemen at Makinde Police Station, Mafoluku, Oshodi and charged before the Ogba Magistrate’s Court where he was granted bail under special circumstances after his lawyer claimed he had Covid-19 and tuberculosis. Immediately after getting bail, Bishop Omosekpa was said to have embarked on a public campaign misinforming members of the public that he had been discharged and acquitted.

Ebenezer Omejalile, the chief operating officer and Advocate of Children and Vulnerable Persons, said that the latest arrest became almost impossible, as the suspect ran to Zone Two, with the intention to getting special protection. However, he was directed to go back to Makinde Police Station, Mafoluku in Oshodi.
