Tambuwal named as chairman of PDP's national campaign management committee

GOVERNOR Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State has been named by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the director-general of its national campaign management committee (NCMC) ahead of next year's general elections.

 

Next February, Nigerians go to the polls to elect a new president, with the PDP hoping to win power . Major contenders in the election are former vice president Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, former Lagos State governor Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), former Anambra State governor Peter Obi of the Labour Party and former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party.

 

With campaigns set to begin in earnest as from October, the PDP has put together the NCMC, to be chaired by the governor, who is also the head of its governor's forum. In addition, the party also appointed former Cross Rivers State governor Liyel Imoke as its deputy director general operations.

 

Also, Professor Adewale Oladipu has been named as deputy director administration, while Chief Raymond Dokpesi is deputy director technical and systems, with Ekwesilieze Nwodo being appointed as deputy director research and strategy. Meanwhile, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and the party's other governors are members of the PDP's Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).

 

According to Hon Umaru Bature, the party's organising secretary, Akwa Ibom State governor, Udom Emmanuel, will serve as the PCC chairman. Bauchi State's Governor, Bala Mohammed will be vice chairman, north, while Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State will be vice chairman south.
