Aston Villa consider launching £21m bid for Paul Onuachu during the January transfer window

ENGLISH Premier league giants Aston Villa are preparing a bold bid for Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu during the forthcoming January transfer window with new manager Unai Emery planning to make him his first signing.

Former Arsenal manager Emery recently took charge of Aston Villa, just before the World Cup and will be hoping to use the forthcoming January window to strengthen his squad. Valued in the region of £21.5m, Onuachu, 28, has been in red-hot form this season, prompting several teams to enquire about signing him.

Since joining Genk in 2019, he has scored 82 goals in just 127 games for the Belgian side and his form has continued this season with an incredible 14 goals in 15 matches. Back in September, Onuachu said that Wolves had shown interest in bringing him to Molineux but instead, signed Sasa Kalajdzic from Stuttgart.

Wolves might reignite that interest in January but it seems Villa are leading the way and ready to submit an offer for the 6.6 feet striker. Genk want £21.5m and Villa are said to be considering a move to land the giant.

Much like Olivier Giroud has done throughout his career, Onuachu brings a mix of scoring headers and bringing others into play to the team. He could get the best out of Villa duo Emi Buendia and Philippe Coutinho of he joins them.
