President Tinubu is in New York negotiating deals on the fringes of the United Nations General Assembly. I hope he left Abuja with a template that looks something like this

Ayo Akinfe

[1] First of all, President Tinubu should let the whole world know that Nigeria is not Afghanistan where what happens remains local. Whenever anything happens in Nigeria, it has continental implications. President Tinubu needs to tell the rest of the world that they ignore Nigeria at their peril

Maybe what President Tinubu should do on a bid to enhance output is set each governor production targets for several crops starting with Lagos State and coconuts

Ayo Akinfe

[1] Coconuts is one agricultural crop that should easily be a big money spinner for Nigeria. If well harnessed, the sector could match the $50bn or so we generate from crude oil sales

[2] Nigeria is currently the world’s number 18 coconut producer with a disappointing output of 288,615 tonnes. Badagry Local Government Area alone could easily double that figure within four years if it wanted to. Coconuts grow well in sandy soil like that found around Badagry

To ensure that all this investment that is being pledged does not end up in private pockets, Tinubu should get every APC member and political appointee to sign a vow of poverty similar to that of the Templar Knights

Ayo Akinfe

[1] I am a big fan of the Knights Templar, that Catholic military order founded in 1119. The world owes them a debt of gratitude as they spearheaded the new age of enlightenment that spread across Europe at the time, opening up new frontiers in an unprecedented manner. I first fell in love with them when I read Da Vinci Code. They have fascinated me ever since
