Ayo Akinfe

[1] As from October 1 2026, Nigeria’s six geo-political zones will become official and constitutional organs of government. This means that there will be four tiers of administration in Nigeria - Federal, Zonal, State and Local governments

[2] Nigeria will have six geo-political zones, with each being made up of seven states. Our constitution will prohibit the creation of any more states after these 42

With Nigeria fast becoming a one-party state, we need to adopt a radical solution to corruption. I want to see the APC mandate its candidates to sign vows of poverty like the Templar Knights

Ayo Akinfe

[1] I am a big fan of the Knights Templar, that Catholic military order founded in 1119. In the run-up to the 2027 elections I would create six new states with each established on the premise that it must generate at least $1bn in revenue annually. Seven states per geo-political zone would give Nigeria 42, which needs to be ring-fenced

Ayo Akinfe

[1] I have repeatedly said that the British colonialists need to be given credit for creating 40 provinces in Nigeria. They were spot on in understanding the make-up of the country. Our current 36 states are based on these 40 provinces but I think we need to make them 42

For Nigeria to enjoy the economic growth required to get her out of this rut, our federating units need to deliver. Anioma State can generate a lot of wealth with an economy centred on the River Niger

Ayo Akinfe

[1] The more one looks at the River Niger, the more one sees a criminal waste of a natural resource. Nigeria is grossly under-utilising this river as a source of hydro-electric power, a means of transportation, tourist attraction, fishing resource and as a magnet for investment. The planned creation of Anioma State could address this
