With Ramadan due to end this weekend I would just love it if the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and the Christian Association of Nigeria issued a joint economic communique for Bola Tinubu that reads like this

Ayo Akinfe

[1] We have suspended the collection of tithes and zakat contributions from all our members until further notice. Given the hardships many of them are facing, it would be morally wrong to collect money from them now

[2] Every registered imam and pastor in Nigeria who is a member of our organisations will take a 50% pay cut for this months of April and May 2023

I suspect that Tinubu will not return to Nigeria until after the coronation of King Charles. I thus hope he has drawn up audacious plans to woo British investors during his London visit

Ayo Akinfe

[1] First of all, his entourage to London must include industrialists like Dangote, Adenuga, Otedola, Alakija, etc. Their jobs would have been to secure joint deals with British enterprueners like Richard Branson and Alan Sugar

[2] He should also take along a team of crack economists like Charles Soludo, Lamido Sanusi, Pat Utomi, Kingsley Moghalu, etc. Their job would be to set deal targets and then make sure these targets are met

I hope Bola Tinubu is aware of the fact that he needs to make a major security announcement soon to allay investor fears

Ayo Akinfe

[1] Insecurity is by far our biggest problem in Nigeria today. For me, Tinubu’s first step to address this problem should be the appointment of a coordinating minister for security who will coordinate the affairs of the defence, police and internal affairs ministries

[2] As things stand, foreign investors need to be assured that Nigeria is open for business, so Tinubu needs to take this step to vanish any doubts they might have

I just hope Tinubu is using the holy month of Ramadan to put together unprecedented plans to attract Islamic finance investment into Nigeria once he gets sworn-in

Ayo Akinfe

[1] First of all can I say Ramadan Kareem to all my Muslim friends. Now, if I am right, the holy month is supposed to be a period of sober reflection among other things
