Ayo Akinfe

[1] I do not need to tell anyone that West Africa remains a dependent and parasitic backwater, that supplies the rest of the world with the world with nothing by raw materials. You can never build any form of prosperity with that kind of rigged arrangement that keeps you a dependant consumer

Ayo Akinfe

[1] When I look at the way Nato nations are falling over each other to supply Ukraine with battle tanks, I weep for our dear African continent. When has the West ever assisted an African nation like that in say its battle against terrorists?

[2] Battle tanks are actually quite a rare commodity at the moment. Russia is having to roll out previously decommissioned Soviet era T-55 tanks as the war with Ukraine has created a scarcity due to the high casualty rate

There appears to be a lot of excitement around the election of economist and former Diamond Bank MD Alex Otti as the Abia State governor. Let us hope he comes up with several dramatic policies like these

Ayo Akinfe

[1] Nothing is as responsible for Nigeria's current socio-economic woes as the federal revenue allocation formula. It has made us dependent on one primary commodity, stifled economic growth and inhibited productivity. I am hoping that Governor Otti will initiative the process that will eventually slay this dragon. If by say 2029, Abia State has a gross domestic product (GDP) of $200bn, it has no need whatsoever for the paltry Abuja handouts
