OHANAEZE Ndigbo has vehemently denied rumours that its president Professor George Obiozor passed away on Boxing Day after succumbing to a heart-related ailment stating that he remains alive.
Professor Obiozor, an octogenarian, has reportedly been ill and unable to sustain regular public appearances. After he remained unseen throughout the Christmas festivities, one highly placed Ohanaeze chieftain said Professor Obiozor died on December 26 of a heart-related disease.

NIGERIA'S Independent National Electoral Commission (Inec) has proposed the introduction of a new law that will bring about a punishment of a one-year imprisonment or a N500,000 ($1,120) fine for anyone found guilty of vote buying in next year's elections.
