With the prospect of the Middle East crisis erupting into a full scale war that could rally global oil prices, Nigeria needs to come up with an ambitious plan that will wean her off petroleum once and for all

Ayo Akinfe

[1] So far, the US/Israeli air strikes on Iran have failed to create a panic in the global crude oil market but should the situation escalate and prices rise to say over $100 a barrel, Nigeria needs to come up with an action plan

Will the killings end if the Nigerian Governors' Forum meets and adopts this Fulani Rehabilitation Bill, which is then forwarded on to the National Assembly to be passed into law

Ayo Akinfe

[1] Nigeria will establish at least two new technical vocational training colleges in each local government area of the 19 states of the country that have indigenous Fulani populations

[2] Every Fulani man who hands in his weapons and arms will be granted automatic admission into one of these technical colleges where the state government will feed, board and train them up to City & Guild level in one vocational skill

I cannot believe that a fortnight after the Benue massacre, the governors of Nigeria’s 19 northern states have not met and agreed to float a National Livestock Bank of Nigeria

Ayo Akinfe

[1] Why has the Northern States Governors Forum not met and agreed to float a National Livestock Bank of Nigeria? Its primary aim should be to offer loans to herdsmen so they can open ranches and raise their livestock there

[2] I believe the 19 states should have like say a 30% stake in the bank. Corporate stakeholders should have like a 40% holding in the venture, with the remaining 30% sold to the public

Were I in President Tinubu's shoes, I would send this Yelwata Security Bill 2025 to the National Assembly immediately in response to the Benue State massacre

Ayo Akinfe

[1] As from July 1 202025, every local government is compelled by law to register and licence all vigilante groups within its domain. Copies of this list are to be sent to the state police commissioner immediately

[2] Given that a lot of these herdsmen come into Nigeria from neighbouring countries, we are to establish 20 Nigerian Army battalions in strategic towns across the north east and northwest geo-political zones

I expect the six governors of Nigeria's north central geo-political zone to meet in Makurdi over the next week and launch a regional security outfit similar to Amotekun called the Joseph Tarka Brigade

Ayo Akinfe

[1] First of all, the six governors need to agree to form a regional security outfit as the current arrangements are wholly inadequate. Maybe name it the Joseph Tarka Brigade with a mandate to serve as a regional police force. Its members will bear arms and shall be the first line of defence against armed herdsmen and terrorists
