English Championship side Coventry City offer Nigerian teenage centreback Zamar Sanusi trials

ENGLISH Championship side Coventry City have handed Nigerian-born central defender Zamar Sanusi trials with a view to a possible transfer ahead of the forthcoming 2023/24 football league season.

Sanusi, 19 caught the eye as Coventry were in the market for a new centre-back to bolster their development squad. They were subsequently alerted to the availability of Sanusi, who last played for the Juvenil team of Barcelona Academy in Lagos before relocating to the United Kingdom with his mother.

Coventry City youth team coaches began running the rule over the promising teenager today and he is in line to feature in a pre-season friendly against non-leaguers Nuneaton Borough tomorrow night. Sanusi, the Lagos-born defender was highly rated by the Barcelona Academy coaches while with the club.

Sanusi has been described as a leader on the pitch and a player who shows great confidence in his game, getting his teammates going and one who makes everyone around him better. He is a physical central defender who is comfortable on the ball and does not shy away from tackles, making him ideal for English football.

Coventry City have also been running the rule over another teenager of Nigerian descent in Ifeoluwa Oni since the start of pre-season preparations. Over the coming days, the Sky Blues will make a decision on whether to offer the talented midfielder a contract after he is watched by first team boss Mark Robins.
