All airlines operating at Lagos airport given until October 1 to relocate to Terminal Two

NIGERIA'S new aviation minister Festus Keyamo has directed all international airlines to vacate Terminal One of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos as from October 1 to allow for maintenance work to take place there.

 

Recently appointed by President Bola Tinubu as the minister of aviation and aerospace development, Mr Keyamo is hoping to carry out widespread refurbishment of the airport. During a recent tour of the facility, Mr Keyamo said that the airlines need to leave the terminal to give room for total maintenance work at the airport.

 

Accompanied by the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria managing director Kabir Yusuf Mohammed, Mr Keyamo inspected all the facilities at the airport. During the tour, he directed the airlines and companies operating in the airport to move to the new Terminal Two while the refurbishment was going on.

 

Mr Keyamo also suspended all contracts, projects, concessions in the sector until further notice. He said: “All airlines should vacate the Murtala Mohammed International Airport before October 1 and relocate to Terminal Two.”
