Nottingham Forest fans vote Super Eagles fullback Aina as the club's player of the month

SUPER Eagles fullback Ola Aina has been voted as the Nottingham Forest Player of the Month for September 2023 by the fans in recognition of his sterling performances since the start of the season.

Aina, 26, started off his career in the Chelsea academy but has had spells with Fulham and has played in Italy with Torino. In July this year, Aina returned from Italy, joining the two-time European champions Forest, on a one-year contract, with options for the future also agreed in the contract.

He has had a brilliant season so far and has subsequently picked up his first monthly award since returning to England. Capable of playing on either flank, the athletic and versatile fullback has started every single game played by Nottingham Forest in the Premier League in September, logging 253 minutes.

During September, Aina shone as Steve Cooper's side registered an impressive 1-0 road win against his former employer, Chelsea and then went the distance as the Reds were held by a 1-1 draw by Burnley, before putting in a strong shift at Manchester City. Aina was deemed by Nottingham Forest supporters as the club's Player of the Month for September due to his versatility.

His displays in defence saw him amass 40% of the vote to place first ahead of the other players in contention for the award. Aina was not involved in Nottingham Forest's last match in the Premier League against Brentford because of a muscle-related injury he is recovering from.
