Tiwa Savage's ex-husband Teebillz apologises for his recent comments on the death of Mohbad

TALENT manager and Tiwa Savage’s estranged husband Teebillz has tendered a public apology for his controversial statements on singer Mohbad’s tragic death saying he did not mean any offence with his comments.

On September 12, Mohbad, 27, passed away at a Lagos hospital after being treated for an infection. His death is being treated as suspicious by his fans, especially as it comes in the wake of a very public falling out between Mohbad and his mentor, singer and songwriter Naira Marley.

After two years of working together, Mohbad announced he was leaving Naira Marley's  Marlian Records. On 5 October 2022, Mohbad then accused Naira Marley of assault, stating that his former boss ordered people to beat him up after he announced his intention to employ a different manager to handle his music and business affairs.

Nigerian celebrities and aggrieved music fans took to the streets to demand justice for the late singer. Responding to this pressure, the Lagos State police commissioner put together a 13-man investigation team headed by assistant commissioner of police Saheed Kassim to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death.

Earlier this week, Teebillz defended Naira Marley, stating that he believed and invested in Mohbad’s music career when none of the after-death advocates of love did. Teebillz’s defence, however, sparked outrage among many Nigerians, who took to social media to express their disapproval.

Now, it appears that the online backlash has prompted a change of heart by the talent manager as he expressed regret for any offence caused and clarified that he did not intend to undermine people’s feelings or opinions. In a post on his Instagram page, he said: “I’m sincerely sorry for the insensitivity of my earlier post. I don’t mean to undermine anyone’s feelings or opinions.

Despite denying the allegations, songs by Marley and his record label artists have been taken off the playlists of many Nigerian broadcast stations and some international music channels like MTV Base. Socialite Balogun Olamilekan Eletu popularly known as Sam Larry, has also come under attack for his role in the saga after a video of him and some people harassing Mohbad surfaced on social media.
