There have been a few people in history who have had grandiose dreams for Nigeria. I hope President Tinubu joins their ranks with an unprecedented tourism programme

[1] We will build a mega Koma village in Adamawa State centred around the traditional culture of these people

[2] In Iseyin, we will construct a tomb of Samuel Ajayi Crowther to attract Christian pilgrims from all over Africa

[3] In Sokoto, we will reconstruct the tomb of Usman Dan Fodio to attract African Muslim pilgrims

[4] Nigeria is desperately crying out for a Niagra Falls type facility at Lokoja at the confluence the rivers Niger and Benue. We will replicate what they have in Canada here

[5] We will open the world’s largest cattle ranch in Sambisa Forest

[6] Without any shadow of a doubt, the centrepiece of our tourism trade will be a mega wildlife sanctuary similar to Kruge National Park in Taraba State

[7] We still have large swathes of tropical rainforest in Nigeria. Known as the lungs of the earth, the tropical rainforest has to be preserved. We will build a wildlife sanctuary in the forests along the Edo/Ondo state borders

[8] Not a lot Nigerians know that the eagle is our national animal. We must be home to the world’s largest eagle sanctuary. I would locate such a facility in Niger State because it has the largest land mass of all our states

[9] Nigeria is desperately calling out for a mega slave trade museum at Badagry

[10] We should honour our first true nationalist with the construction of a Jaja of Opobo mausoleum in his island

We should set ourselves a target of generating $50bn a year from tourism. This programme should include Nigeria hosting Festac every two years.

As the world’s largest black nation, Nigeria should be Africa’s poster boy. I fail to understand why we do not aim to attract more tourists than any other nation on earth.
