Northern caucus in House of Reps donates a further N350m to Kaduna bombing victims

MEMBERS of the northern caucus of the Federal House of Representatives have pledged a sum of N350m ($435,323) for the rebuilding of Tudun Biri community in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State that was recently bombed by a drone attack.

 

Earlier this month, the Nigerian Army accidentally bombed the village, mistaking it for a terrorists hideout, leading to the deaths of dozens. Speaking during a condolence visit to the area, Hon Hassan Ado Doguwa, the leader of the northern caucus in the House of Representatives said that the cash was in addition to the earlier donation of N45m made to victims by the speaker and the Kaduna State caucus of the House of Representatives.

 

He said  the money will be used to will provide blocks of classrooms, a clinic, a police post, a solar borehole and solar electrification equipment among others. He also announced that the three southern caucuses of the House of Representatives have decided to support the cause with a sum of N30m. 

 

Hon Doguwa commended the Tinubu-led federal government for promptly reaching out to victims and for taking charge of the victims’ welfare. He also appreciated the government’s plans to rebuild the community and pledged to follow up with the federal government to ensure appropriate compensations for the victims and the community as promised.

 

Also, Hon Doguwa said the caucus will provide the legal framework for compensation, to ensure that families of those that were killed are adequately covered by the scheme. He appealed to the affected community and the leaders to remain calm and law-abiding while thanking the government and governor of Kaduna State for keeping to their responsibility of protecting law and order.
