ENGLISH Premier League giants Aston Villa are looking to sign Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho from Championship side Leicester City during the forthcoming January transfer window.
Last year, Leicester were relegated from the Premier League but Iheanacho’s contract with the side set to run out on June 30, 2024. Aston Villa manager, Unai Emery us now looking to bring the striker to Villa Park as the Kelechi is unlikely to sign an extension and could leave on a free transfer next summer if Leicester City failed to sell him next month.
According to online sports portal Football Insider, Aston Villa have identified Iheanacho and RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner as potential targets. Iheanacho has scored six goals and provided two assists in 20 appearances for Leicester this season in the English Championship.
Kelechi, 27, was named in the Foxes matchday squad for the away win against Birmingham City yesterday night after missing the previous two games due to illness. He has also been named in Nigeria's provisional 40-man squad for the forthcoming African Cup of Nations due to start in January.
