Nigerian teenage striker Damola Ajayi signs his first professional contract with Spurs

NIGERIAN teenage striker Damola Ajayi has committed his future to English Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspurs after agreeing to sign his first professional football contract with the club.

Ajayi, who just turned 18 in December, has pen to paper on a deal after concluding negotiations with the club that have been ongoing since November. Ajayi is a promising teenager who started the 2023/24 season as a second year scholar and would have walked away as a free agent at the end of the campaign if terms were not agreed.

However, he is highly thought of by the first team coaches at Tottenham, given that he trained with the senior players before the squad travelled to Australia and Asia for pre-season matches before the season started. At the tail end of last season, Ajayi was named in the provisional squad for the Premier League meeting with Leeds United and he travelled with the first team to Elland Road as the 21st player.

A member of the Spurs side that won the U17 and U18 Premier League Cup double in 2022/23, Ajayi has represented the club's youth teams in the U18 Premier League, Premier League Two, FA Youth Cup, EFL Trophy and U18 Premier League Cup this season. A good goal scorer, he has seven goals to his name.
