Alhassan Yusuf declares himself fit and ready for quarter final clash against Angola

ROYAL Antwerp midfielder Alhassan Yusuf has declared himself fit and ready to resume action at the ongoing African Cup of Nations as the Super eagles gear up for a quarter final clash against Angola on Friday.

Yusuf, 23, was the standout performer in Nigeria's opening game against Equatorial Guinea but limped off injured in the second half of that match and had not featured again since. With head coach Jose Peseiro changing formation and opting for a 3-4-3 line-up, Yusuf's position has effectively been made redundant in the team.

However, as the tournament hearts up and the games get tougher, Mr Peseiro may have to figure out a way to bring back one of his star players. Over the last few days, Yusuf has been training with his team mates again and says he is in fine shape, having recovered from what was a thigh injury.

.

Yusuf said: “I’m in good shape now, no discomfort or injury again. I’m ready to play again but the coach will decide when he wants me to play. The team is doing well and that is the most important thing.”

Nigeria's Super Eagles will face the Black Antelopes of Angola in the quarter-final at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan on Friday. Nigeria beat Cameroon 2-0 in the Round of 16 match to get to this state, while Angola thrashed Namibia 3-0.
