Linda Ikeji reveals she got pregnant because her clock was ticking away as Don Jazzy denies responsibility

CONTROVERSIAL Nigerian blogger Linda Ikeji has revealed that she abandoned her well-known stance on celibacy and decided to get pregnant because she turned 36 and felt her biological clock was ticking away.

By far Nigeria's most successful blogger, Ms Ikeji has a large following among young women and she has always advised them to stay away from pre-marital sex and stay celibate. Earlier this week, however, Ms Ikeji shocked the whole world when she posted pictures of herself six months pregnant, on the Internet.

Critics have latched on to the pictures to label Ms Ikeji a hypocrite, saying she has refused to practise what she preaches as she is not married. For now, no one even knows the identity of her partner and speculation is mounting as to who the father of her baby could be but ignoring the hype, Ms Ikeji said she does not regret her actions.

Ms Ikeji said: “I preached celibacy to young girls because I feel that’s the right way to live until you meet someone very special that you love and who loves you and wants to be in a committed relationship with you. Passing your body around and having multiple partners is not the way and I stand by it and I’ve lived by it.

"However, then I turned 36 and I knew there was nothing else I wanted more than to be a mum and a wife and celibacy wasn’t going to get me that. I even did a video talking about how much I wanted these two things and God has finally answered my prayers."

Maverick entertainer, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charlyboy, has revealed he advised Ms Ikeji to get pregnant and forget marriage. Backing her decision, Charlyboy said he is of the opinion that ms Ikeji did the right thing.

Charlyboy said: "That Linda Ikeji is pregnant is no longer news, women are getting pregnant by the hour and some don’t even want the baby. Thank God she listened to my advice, to get pregnant and forget about marriage.

”You have done the right thing my girl. Your mumu suppose do.”

Meanwhile, music producer Michael Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has denied being the father of the expected baby of his long-time crush. Following speculation that Don Jazzy was the father of the baby after the news of the pregnancy broke, he went on his Twitter handle to refute the claims.

He wrote: “It wasn’t me,” in response to speculations he could be the father of Linda’s unborn child. Ms Ikeji and Don Jazzy were supposed to be dating until March this year when she got engaged to a former boyfriend.

After the announcement of Ms Ikeji’s engagement in March, Don jazzy shared a picture of himself being consoled by friends.  Before the news of Ms Ikeji's engagement, Don Jazzy had made several moves and also proposed to her on social media and with various posts on his Instagram handle.
