DUKE of Sussex Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markel are expected to adopt a much relaxed dress code when they visit Nigeria later this month as the trip is being sold as an unofficial tour without any royal connotations.
General Christopher Musa, Nigeria's chief of defence staff, has invited the duke and duchess of Sussex o visit Nigeria later this month to come and offer support to military veterans. Prince Harry founded the Invicta Games, a sporting fiesta for servicemen injured in battle and Nigeria is a major participant in the venture, given the number of soldiers that have got injured in the war against Boko Haram.
Prince Harry and his wife Meghan will meet with service members and their families while in Nigeria but according to royal watchers, the couple will turn their back on official protocol during the trip. Public relations guru Mayah Riaz for instance, believes Harry and Meghan will show fans a more relaxed side to them in Nigeria.
She added: "Meghan won't necessarily be dressing to any royal dress code. Her outfits will be carefully planned in advance and fit her style. We can expect the outfits she wears to sell out but there will be no official protocol for her to follow."
Meghan and Harry no longer have to abide by royal dress codes since stepping down as a working royals four years ago in 2020. Prince Harry is thus expected to be casual with his dressing when he visits Nigeria.
Ms Riaz said: "Harry will be dressed down wearing a casual look and not be in a suit for the duration of his trip. A lot of people will compare it to a royal trip but it will have a different look and feel to it."
