ENGLISH Premier League giants Arsenal has offered Italian side Napoli their Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus and a large sum of cash in exchange for Super Eagles goal scorer Victor Osimhen in a desperate bid to make their team good enough to challenge for the title.
In the season just passed, Arsenal lost out on the league title to Manchester City buy just two points, who have now won the last four titles in a row. In a desperate bid to end this dominance and challenge for the league title next season, Arsenal are pulling out all the stops to sign Osimhen, who is arguably the hottest striker in Europe at the moment.
Already, a team of Arsenal officials are in Naples negotiating for Osimhen, who has played 132 times for Napoli since joining them in 2020. During this time, he has scored 78 goals and provided 18 assists and has also won the Capocannoniere, the Italian golden boot, becoming the first African player to do so.
Arsenal, Chelsea, and Paris Saint Germain have all been heavily linked with Osimhen but nothing concrete has come up yet. However, in a new development Arsenal have started making moves, believing that Osimhen could be the final piece of the jigsaw puzzle, needed to give them a title-winning team.
Napoli value their man at €120m but the Gunners are looking for a way to cut the price and believe that a player plus cash deal should do the trick. However, it is unlikely that Napoli will accept the deal because the club president Aurelio De Laurentiis is a very shrewd businessman.
Also, Jesus struggled with Arsenal last season, raising question marks about his form. In addition, Jesus in 27 years old and Napoli would prefer singing someone younger as Osimhen's replacement.
