NIGERIA-eligible teenage striker Princess Ademiluyi has agreed to join English Barclays Women’s Championship side Charlton Athletic on a year-long loan after just signing a professional contract with English Women Soccer League club West Ham United.
Ademiluyi, 18, who is eligible to play for Nigeria, was born in England and just signed her first ever contract with the Hammers upon turning 18, following an impressive run of performances in her 17 appearances for the club. To help her gain valuable first-team experience, West Ham have decided to loan out Ademiluyi to Charlton, currently playing in the second tier of English football.
A West Ham Spokesman said: “Ademiluyi will make the temporary switch to the Addicks to gain further valuable first-team experience in the Barclays Women’s Championship, the second tier of women’s football in England. Everyone at West Ham United would like to wish Princess well during her loan spell in south London.”
Upon joining Charlton, the Super Falcons-eligible player expressed her excitement and praised the competitiveness of the Women’s Championship. Ademiluyi can represent Nigeria’s U-20 women’s national team as well as the senior women’s national team, making her a promising prospect for the future.
She added: “I feel amazing, it’s the best birthday that I could have wished for. I am very excited to play in the Championship because it’s competitive and can help me find my form and grow into the player I want to be.”
