Southampton slash their asking price for Onuachu leading to agreement with Trabzonspor

ENGLISH Premier League side Southampton have reached a deal with Turkish giants Trabzonspor to sell Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu for €7m ahead of the forthcoming 2024/25 season.

Onuachu, 29, spent last season on loan at Trabzonspor after Southampton got relegated from the English Premier league at the end of the 2022/23 season and has been a smash hit there. Pleased with his performances and how Onuachu has been firing on all cylinders since arriving, Trabzonspor have been seeking to make his move permanent and it now looks like the two clubs have reached an agreement.

Last season, Onuachu scored17 goals in 24 games for Trabzonspor, leading to the club's president Ertuğrul Doğan and head coach Abdullah Avcı, making it clear they want to retain the striker. However, Southampton were requesting €7m for his services, delaying any possible deal and in the meantime, Onuachu has been involved in pre-season training with the Saints.

However, according to the Turkish news outlet the Yomra Sonhaber Gazette, the Saints have now reduced their asking price to just €7m and Onuachu’s transfer to Trabzonspor is considered only a matter of time. Trabzonspor are expected to submit an official bid over the coming days.
