Canuk urges all Nigerians in the UK to be cautious in light of the recent disturbances

FOLLOWING the recent disturbances we have witnessed across several cities and towns in the UK over the last week the Central Association of Nigerians in the UK (Canuk) is urging all of its constituents to be cautious.

Over  recent days, riots have occurred in various parts of the United Kingdom, resulting in violence, the disruption of daily activities and significant damage to property. As the umbrella body representing all Nigerians in the UK, Canuk commends the authorities, particularly the prime minister and the police for taking measures to prevent the spread of these riots to other regions.

Canuk strongly condemns bigotry, hatred and other divisive outlooks that fuel far-right ideologies, Islamophobia and other nasty sentiments within our communities. We urge all Nigerians in the UK to remain calm during these challenging times and to follow all safety measures and alerts issued by the government and local authorities.

Any suspected criminal activity should be promptly reported to the police via 101 or other emergency contact numbers. Individuals are also encouraged to enhance their security by utilizing CCTV and other surveillance measures available to them.

As an association dedicated to the well-being of Nigerians in the UK, Canuk is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to keep our members informed with updates as the situation evolves. We are liaising with the Nigerian high commission on this matter and will pass on any updates they provide us with.

If anyone has any instances to report to Canuk, you can reach our welfare secretary on 07904 262390 or via email at info@canukonline.com. Once more, we urge all Nigerians in the UK to be vigilant and take precautions.
