English Championship side Luton Town sign former Eagle Victor Moses on a free transfer

FORMER Super Eagles striker Victor Moses has joined English Championship side Luton Town on a free transfer following his forced exit from Russian side Spartak Moscow as a result of the Ukrainian war.

Moses, 33, cut his teeth in English football, playing for several English clubs including Chelsea FC West Ham United, Crystal Palace, Stoke City and Liverpool FC. Most recently, he played for Spartak Moscow, who he joined in 2021 after a successful loan spell from Chelsea during the 2020/21 season.

A versatile player, who can play as both a right-back and winger, Moses made his debut for the Super Eagles in 2012 and earned 38 caps and scored 12 times before retiring from international football in 2018. Born in Kaduna, Nigeria, Moses represented England youth teams but opted to play for Nigeria at senior level, after undergoing a switch with Fifa.

Luton Town manager Rob Edwards, said: “We are excited to announce the signing of free agent Victor Moses on a permanent contract, subject to international clearance. We think he’s someone who can provide some really good competition for us."

Moses played for Nigeria’s championship-winning team at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, as well as the 2014  and 2018 World Cups. Luton have only managed one point from four Championship games this season following relegation from the Premier League in May. so desperately need some strengthening.
