While this current food crisis remains around, Nigeria’s National Assembly should pass a bill banning the export of the following 30 food crops of which we are a major producer but a major consumer too

[23] Maize - We are number 12 in the world with 11m tonnes

[24] Coconuts - We are the world’s number 18 producer with 288,615 tonnes.

[25] Onions - We are the number 20 producer in the world with a crop of 1.25m tonnes

[26] Tomatoes - We produce and 1.8m tonnes, which I estimate will make us around the world's 20th largest producer

[27] Soyabeans - We are about number 12 in the world with 588,000 tonnes

[28] Coffee - We are a distant number 40 with an annual crop of about 40,000 tonnes

[29] Pineapple - We are the eighth largest producer with an estimated annual crop of 1.6m tonnes

[30] Bananas - We have an annual crop of about 2.8m tonnne, which by my estimation would make us around the 10th largest producer in the world
