Several English Premier League clubs consider January move for Nigerian striker Christantus

SEVERAL English Premier League clubs including Aston Villa and Chelsea have stepped up plans to sign Nigerian striker Uche Christantus who has caught the eye of late following his goalscoring exploits in the Portuguese league.

Christantus, 21, who plies his trade for La Liga club Getafe, has attracted a lot of interest since joining the club in the summer. He joined Getafe from Ceuta, who play in the third tier of Spanish football and he has quickly adapted to life in La Liga, with English Premiership side Bournemouth, now becoming the latest club to enquire about his services.

Uche has become the first-choice striker at Getafe but despite only scoring one goal in 11 league appearances, he has been attracting a lot of attention from clubs in La Liga and abroad. Real Sociedad, Newcastle United, Chelsea and Aston Villa have been scouting Uche and have now been joined by Bournemouth.

Known as The Cherries, Bournemouth sold striker Dominic Solanke to Tottenham during the last summer transfer window and they are looking to add more options to their attack. Uche is still quite affordable, as he would cost less than €10m and for a club like Bournemouth that usually has a small budget, he could be a good option.

Since leaving Nigeria in 2022, Uche has plied his trade in Iberia and leaving for the English Premier League would be a big switch for him. Born in Owerri, Uche played amateur football in his hometown before receiving an offer from Moralo, a club in the fifth tier of Spanish football in July 2022 and since then, he has gradually climbed up the ladder, joining bigger teams every season.
