ENGLISH Premier League giants Manchester United have tabled a €100m bid for Super Eagles striker Ademola Lookman with a view to purchasing him from his Italian clubside Atalanta during the forthcoming January transfer window.
Lookman, 27, has been a standout performer in Serie A, this season excelling with his pace, agility and attacking versatility. His ability to score goals and create chances has made him one of the league’s most complete forwards, capable of playing across multiple attacking positions.
According to Spanish sports media outlet Fichajes, Manchester United, who are struggling in the Premier League this season, languishing in the bottom half of the table, are now desperate to sign Lookman to turn their fortunes around. Already, Lookman has attracted a similar offer from French giants Paris Saint-Germain but the Red Devils need him more as they badly need to turn their fortunes around.
Last season, Lookman scored a hat-trick in Atalanta's 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa Cup final to claim the club’s first-ever European trophy. PSG, led by coach Luis Enrique, see Lookman as a crucial addition to bolster their attack as they aim to maintain dominance in the French Ligue One and compete for European glory.
However Manchester United, under new manager Ruben Amorim, are eyeing Lookman as a key piece in their squad rebuild. His dynamic skills set fits perfectly into United’s plans to reclaim their status among Europe’s elite.
Atalanta, despite valuing Lookman’s contributions, are reportedly open to his sale. A massive transfer fee would provide a significant financial boost, enabling the Italian club to reinforce other areas of its squad while continuing the tradition of identifying and developing young talent.
