ENGLISH Premier League giants Manchester United are planning an audacious bid for two Nigerians during the forthcoming January transfer winder in a desperate attempt to turn around their dwindling fortunes.
Manchester United, who are struggling in the Premier League this season, languishing in the bottom half of the table, are now desperate to turn their fortunes around. New head coach Ruben Amorim, has drawn up a shortlist of four strikers he wants to buy in January and topping the list are Nigerians Victor Boniface of Bayer Leverkusen and Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen.
Earlier this month, Manchester United tabled a €100m bid for Super Eagles striker Ademola Lookman with a view to purchasing him from his Italian clubside Atalanta during the forthcoming January transfer window. However, desperate to improve their firepower upfront having only scored 13 times in 12 Premier League matches, Mr Amorim, is prepared to splash out the cash on strikers.
Other strikers the Red Devils have in their shortlist include Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush and Paris Saint Germain's (PSG) Kolo Muani, who was signed for £77m last year. Marmoush has scored 11 goals in as many Bundesliga appearances for Frankfurt and would cost around £50m, while Muani has only made two starts for PSG this season.
Osimhen on the other hand who is currently on loan at Galatasaray after pushing to leave Napoli, has scored eight goals in 10 matches this season. Boniface for his part has scored eight goals in 15 matches in all competitions this season, after netting 14 in 23 league games to help Leverkusen to the title during the 2023/24 campaign.
Man United’s forwards have struggled for form this season, with Rasmus Hojlund having struck just twice after an injury-hit, disrupted start. Joshua Zirkzee’s debut goal remains his only one in a Man United shirt after 18 appearances, following his £36.5m summer move from Bologna.
