ENGLISH Premier League giants Arsenal are looking to bring Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze to the Emirates Stadium during the forthcoming January transfer window in a deal that would involve a swap with Polish international Jakub Kiwior.
Chukwueze, 25, currently plays for Italian side AC Milan and is valued at €20m by the Serie A giants but Arsenal may avoid having to shell out the cash if the swap deal goes through. Due to the recent injury to Bukayo Saka, the Gunners need more quality and depth in the wide areas and Chukwueze, who was part of the Nigerian squad that won the Under-17 World Cup in 2015 where he won the bronze boot, would be an ideal fit.
Moving to Arsenal would be a major step up in his career as Chukwueze would look to prove himself in the English Premier League. He is versatile enough to operate on both flanks and will add goals and creativity to the side, thus justifying Arsenal’s interest.
Kiwior, the 24-year-old versatile defender being offered to AC Milan as part of the deal has struggled for regular game time at Arsenal and he has been linked with an exit from the club in recent months. He was expected to move on in the summer transfer window but the Gunners decided to keep him at the club.
Struggling for game time at Arsenal this season, Kiwior will be desperate to move on as he needs to play more often at this stage of his career. Swap deals, however, are often difficult to execute and it remains to be seen whether all the parties involved can come to an agreement over the next few days.
