NIGERIAN striker Tolu Arokodare could be set to come to the English Premier League next year after several clubs made enquiries about his services with a view to signing him during the forthcoming January transfer window.
Arokodare, 24, joined Belgian Pro League side Genk on a permanent deal On January 31 2023, signing a four-and-a-half-year deal. He has since gone on to become a big hit with the club and following his impressive first half of the season, he has attracted the interest of some English Premier League clubs.
A big targetman who joined Genk as a replacement for Paul Onuachu who had left for Southampton, Akorodare had a hard first season in Belgium but has now settled down. In his first season full season, he struggled, scoring just eight goals and three assists in 29 games, however, during the current campaign, he has started to prove his mettle.
This season, Arokodare has produced 13 goals and five assists in 19 appearances for Genk, helping them to the top of the table. He has contributed to almost half of his side’s league goals this season and now leads the Jupiler Pro League goalscorers’ chart.
Arokodare’s performances have caught the eyes of several clubs across Europe and according to online sports portal Voetbal Primeur, some Premier League clubs are monitoring his progress. Arokodare still has just over two years left on his contract at Genk but buying this out should not be a problem for a club in one of the top five European leagues.
