Luton Town send Nigeria-eligible striker Aribim Pepple out on loan to Chesterfield

ENGLISH Championship outfit Luton Town have sent Nigeria-eligible striker Aribim Pepple on loan to League Two side Chesterfield for the rest of the season subject to Football Association and English Football League approval.

Pepple, 22, was invited to the Golden Eaglets camp way back in 2019 and at senior level remains eligible to represent both Nigeria and England, his country of birth. Born in Kettering in the UK, Pepple, who began the season on loan at Southend United, where he scored seven goals in 19 National League matches, is also eligible to represent Canada, where he was raised.

In the past, Pepple has enjoyed loan spells at Grimsby Town, Bromley and Inverness Caledonian Thistle as Luton Town sought to get him playing time. He has yet to make his first team debut for Luton Town since his arrival at the club from Canadian Premier League side Cavalry FC in August 2022.

Pepple said: "I'm delighted to be here. I hit a good run of form at Southend and I’m just focused on bringing that to League Two. Every time I have spoken to the gaffer, it has been good and I’m excited to work with him."

For the remainder of this season, Pepple will wear the number 27 shirt at Chesterfield.  At his new club Pepple will link up with former Nigeria Olympic team invitee Tim Akinola, who was recalled from a loan spell at Dagenham & Redbridge earlier this month.
