NIGERIA'S Super Eagles have been paired with the Tunisia in the forthcoming 2025 African Cup of Nations taking place in Morocco later this year after the Confederation of African Football (Caf) announced the fixtures for the tournament.
At the draw, which took place today at the Mohammed V National Theatre in Casablanca, Nigeria was placed in Group C alongside Tunisia, Tanzania and Uganda. Of the three teams in Nigeria's group, only Tunisia have win the title before, lifting the trophy in 2004, when they beat Nigeria in the semi finals and Morocco in the final.
This year's tournament will take place between December 21 2025 and January 18 2026, with six different cities hosting the event. Agadir, Casablanca, Fez, Marrakesh, Rabat and Tangier will all be hosting matches with the final taking place at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, Rabat on January 18 2026.
Nigeria's Super Eagles have a legacy that commands respect across the continent with 16 medals from 20 tournament appearances, including three titles in 1980, 1994, and 2013. Historically known for their attacking flair, squad depth and quality, the Super Eagles are always among the favourites to win the African Cup of Nations.
New coach Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle will be judged on how well he does in this tournament, with most fans expecting him to lift the trophy. If he fails to at least reach the final, there will be inevitable calls for his sacking.
