FLYING Eagles head coach Aliyu Zubairu has invited English-based youngsters Dubem Eze and Abube Onuchukwu to Nigeria's U20 camp ahead of the team's forthcoming friendlies in preparation for the 2025 African Cup of Nations.
Chelsea academy product Eze and exciting Ipswich Town midfielder Onuchukwu have both been invited to camp ahead of two friendlies taking place this month. Egypt will host seven-time African champions Nigeria in a two-legged clash in Cairo, with the first encounter scheduled for February 25 and the second due to take place on February 27.
Less than a month after Eze and Onuchukwu both committed their international futures to Nigeria ahead of England, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has responded by inviting them to camp. Bolton Wanderers starlet Eze and Onuchukwu have been instructed to arrive at the Flying Eagles team camp in Cairo, Egypt on February 23.
Both two dual-national players are scheduled to return to their respective clubs on February 28, a day after the second friendly against Egypt. They will be hoping to make the final squad for the 2025 U20 African Cup of Nations, which will determine who represents the continent at the Fifa U20 World Cup taking place in Chile between September 27 and October 19 this year.
Predominantly an attacking midfielder, Eze, who was on the books of Chelsea for eight years, can add flexibility to the Flying Eagles squad as he has the ability to play in various attacking positions on both flanks. Onuchukwu, for his part, is a versatile left-footed player who can play a number of positions including left midfield, central midfielder and left centre-back.
